 Welcome to the Learning Centre

Here at TLC we are endeavouring to provide students with the skills to cope with the challenges they face on a daily basis.

The Learning Centre exists as an alternative school setting within which school students who consistently exhibit inappropriate behaviour in their home school may participate in an individualised programme of educational and behavioural interventions that ultimately aid in their return to mainsteam education.

Students placed at the Centre by the Behaviour Committee placement panel may be drawn from public schools within the area, however they must be enrolled only in school years five to ten (inclusive). Fundamental to each individualised programme is the assumption that students will undertake a commitment to identify, re-assess and work towards the attainment of their own individual educational goals.

Students participate in small-group and independent curricular activities tailored to each student's ability, and also participate in explicit teaching activities which foster the development of social skills. Following completion of the program, students are allowed the opportunity to proceed to the next stage of their educational and vocational plan through a planned transition process resulting in either re-entry to the school system, the commencement of a TAFE course, or in the case of older students, entry into the adult workforce.
